New Yoga Classes for Beginners


Free weekly classes will begin Friday, September 7, from 5:00 – 6:00 pm in the Community Room.

Practicing yoga, even at beginning levels, can produce health benefits including improved flexibility, balance, and posture; increased focus; and reduced tension. Bring a yoga mat.

The instructor is Nil Filiz, who was born and raised in Hamburg, Germany.  Nil lived in Sarasota, Florida for 15 years where she enjoyed tennis, swimming, and water skiing. When she moved to Coralville in 2012, she needed a new athletic outlet for the winter months. She began attending classes at Downward Dog and quickly fell in love with all things yoga, which she has now been practicing for 3 years. Nil is currently in the midst of completing her 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training, and enjoys leading community classes while she trains to become a full-fledged teacher. When she isn’t practicing yoga, Nil enjoys classical music, reading, visiting her daughter in New York City, spending time with her husband, Nick and their dog, Roger, and exploring all that the dynamic  Iowa City/Coralville area has to offer.
