Summer Activites at CUMC
Here are some summer schedule changes and activities to take note of.
Kids.Connect: The last day of classes for Kids.Connect is Sunday, June 4. But never fear! Teachers and leaders are planning something special. Throughout the summer months, children, from preschool through 6th grade, will start in the sanctuary at 9:30 am for a time of worship with their families, and will be dismissed early for fun activities, supervised by teachers and volunteers.
SPLAT! Youth Group: From June 10 –18, CUMC youth and leaders will travel to rural Kentucky for a mission trip with the Appalachian Service Project. When they return, plans are in the works for some fun summer group activities. Brew Crew will continue to provide beverages and delicious treats downstairs in the Community Room every Sunday after worship during fellowship time.
Music Ministry: The Celebration and Bell Choirs will pause for the summer months, returning to rehearsals in the fall with dates and times to be announced. We will continue to see Jared Shulse and John Boller as well as other familiar faces leading music in worship throughout the summer.
Coffee & Conversation Grief/Caregiver Support Group: Coffee and Conversation is taking a break for the summer months. During the hiatus, co-facilitators Karl Ebert and Bonnie Moses will be available on an individual basis if a need arises. Karl Ebert 319-530-5155/Bonnie Moses 319-530-1938
First Sunday Potluck: We will continue our tradition of a sharing a potluck meal the first Sunday of each month in Community Room after worship. Bring a dish to share if you are able. Beverages and table service will be provided, and Brew Crew will supply their famous sweet treats. All are welcome!
Get Ready for RAGBRAI!: CUMC and CCFP will be co-hosting a meal for RAGRAI riders and the community on Friday, July 28. We are gathering a list of volunteers to help with meal prep, service and clean-up as well as a number of other associated tasks. If you'd like to join the fun, there are sign-up sheets in the Welcome and Information space outside the sanctuary, or you can contact the church office. Stay tuned for more details!
CCFP offers Summer Lunch Program: If you’re in or around the church/food pantry during the week this summer, you may see some energetic goings-on! CCFP is offering a free lunch program for kids 18 years old and under, every Tuesday-Friday from 11:30 – 1:00 pm. “Home base” will be the Community Room, kitchen, and grounds. For more information, including how you can volunteer to help, visit the CCFP website at Coralville Community Food Pantry
