Lenten Sermon Series and Bible Study

The season of Lent begins with an Ash Wednesday worship service at 7:00 pm in the sanctuary. Our Lenten Sermon series and bible study focus on the life and faith of Peter, one of Jesus’ most faithful disciples.

Our Lenten series, “Wandering Heart–Figuring Out Faith with Peter,” begins on Sunday, February 18. The series focuses on the life and faith of one of Jesus’ most faithful disciples.  By following Peter’s journey, we watch the story of Jesus unfold through the eyes of a very normal human trying to figure it all out–just like us. We are reminded that God loves imperfect people. In fact, time and again, it’s the imperfect people that God claims and calls.

We will also begin a Lenten study, “Simon Peter–Flawed but Faithful Disciple,” by well-known author, Adam Hamilton. The 6 week study will be held in the CUMC Community Room on Thursday evenings from 5:30 – 6:30 pm, February 22 – March 28.  Books are available to purchase on Amazon, Cokesbury, or wherever you shop for books. Sign-up sheets are posted on the Welcome and Information table just outside the sanctuary, or you can contact Karen in the church office by phone or e-mail (319-351-2446; office@coralvilleumc.org).
