Where Faith Meets Action: Exploring Our Ministries
Read on to see some of the ways you can get and stay connected at CUMC! Contact the church office (319-351-2446 or office@coralvilleumc.org) if you'd like to receive the weekly E-News.
KIDS.CONNECT: All children, preschool-5th grade, are welcome to Kids.Connect. Beginning in the sanctuary with their families at 9:30 am, children move to classrooms after the Kids.Connect message. Parents collect their children from classrooms at 10:45.
We believe children of all ages should be seen AND heard in worship! For those who prefer, there is a Quiet Room adjacent to the sanctuary with rockers and other comforts where parents can still see and hear the worship service.
SPLAT! YOUTH GROUP meets weekly on Sundays immediately following worship. Join us for a time of learning, serving, sharing, and fun! All youth, grades 6-12, are invited to take part. SPLAT! members serve an active and important role in church events. Besides managing a Sunday morning youth-run coffee shop, better known as Brew Crew, other activities included serving at CUMC’s annual Luminary Soup Supper, and a summer mission trip to Kentucky with Appalachian Service Project (ASP).
ADULTS FAITH FORMATION offers a variety of formats including Bible study, book discussions, educational programs, and faith sharing. Groups meet on Wednesday evenings at 5:30 pm as announced. Current topics are detailed in the weekly E-News.
SUNDAY MORNING FELLOWSHIP is a time for caring and sharing after worship in the Community Room. And our very own Brew Crew serves delicious treats and beverages for your enjoyment. All are welcome! Our youth-run coffee shop, better known as Brew Crew, serves delicious treats and beverages for your enjoyment on Sunday mornings during after worship fellowship.
MUSIC MINISTRY: Celebration Choir meets for rehearsal weekly on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm. Bell Choir meets on Wednesdays at 6:15. New voices and ringers are always welcome, so feel free to come and “make a joyful noise” with other enthusiastic singers!
SPECIAL OCCASIONS POTLUCK MEALS: We believe that a shared meal nourishes both body and soul and is one way we forge a sense of community, offer hospitality and generosity, and deepen personal connection and fellowship. Several times throughout the year, our hospitality team organizes a potluck meal after Sunday worship. We look forward to bringing a favorite dish to share when we’re able. But we invite even those who don’t cook to come and join us at the table – always big enough for one more person!
SPRING AND FALL WORK DAYS: Volunteers gather twice a year on a designated Saturday morning, to work both indoors and out, helping to make the church a safe and welcoming place for all. Because many hands make light work, the rewards for this service opportunity are great! Along with your enthusiasm, cleaning supplies and yard tools are always welcome. And you can count on coffee and donuts to provide a little extra energy!
CARD MINISTRY: If you’d like to be part of a group that designs and assembles simple cards to send to members and friends of the congregation for various occasions, the group meets on the first Thursday of each month from 4:30 – 5:30 pm in the Community Room. This is a wonderful way to connect with those in our congregation who might need a special word of caring and encouragement!
